Melissa Ballman:
What is the cost of living in Draper, Utah in 2022? That is what I’m talking about today and going to give you an update, not just on housing, but everyday things. So, stay tuned. So, if you’re looking at making a move to Draper, you’re probably wondering how expensive is it in Draper. Well, I’m going to get to housing prices, but I first want to jump into everyday essentials. So, if you’re looking at relocating from out of state, you kind of have an idea comparatively of what you pay now compared to what things are like in Draper.
So to start off, let’s talk gasoline. I actually just filled up today and I paid 4.49 a gallon for regular fuel at Chevron. Now, to put that into perspective, of course, I could have drove four miles to Costco and paid 20 cents less, but it was convenient so I did it where I was at. The national price for gasoline, for regular gasoline today is 3.92. So, we’re quite a bit higher. However, in Utah, the average per gallon is 4.56. So in Draper, we’re actually a little bit less than what the Utah average is but more than what the national average is.
So, looking at a gallon of milk, I always buy mine at Costco because I have a family and so I don’t typically buy this at the grocery store, but you’re looking at about 3.99 for a gallon of milk and on sale, it’s about 3.69. Loaf of white bread, they have a sale, two for $5, but normally 4.69. Again, bread is something I buy at Costco. So, just keep in mind, these are local Harmons Grocery Store prices here in Draper. Of course, you can go to like Walmart, or Target, or Smith’s and some of those other stores and find things for less than what I’m quoting you here. But since this video is about the cost of living in Draper, I want to give you what a lot of people shop at Harmons in Draper and what the prices are there for some kind of everyday things.
So, I’m going to jump into cost of living as far as houses, apartment rentals, things like that. But before I do, if you’re looking at making a real estate move, I’d love to connect with you. Shoot me a text, send me an email, do what you got to do but get in touch with me. But let’s jump over real quickly into what you can look at paying for apartment rentals and single-family home, if you were to buy, or condos or townhouses. Okay guys, so I want to share with you some of the prices that you would be looking at in Draper and with apartments. So, I am just looking at a two-bedroom apartment in Draper. We have more and more apartments coming into the area.
But really, I mean, you’re looking at on average about $2,000 up to $3,000 a month. I have found a two-bedroom as low as 1,600 a month. So there is, like I said, a wide variety of apartments you can see throughout Draper here, but you need to plan on spending at least $1,600 a month for a two-bedroom apartment in Draper. Now, also looking at home prices, let’s take a look at the real estate market. So, in the month of July for the Draper zip code, whether that was in Utah County or in Salt Lake County, because Draper does split into both counties, our average sold price was $839,000, which was actually lower than what most homes were listed for. So, our average sales price continues to go up.
Now, I do want to show you really quick what you could potentially buy, like a condo or a townhouse for in Draper. So, let’s just take a look here real quick, no parameters or anything like that. We have a three-bedroom, two-bath starting at 385 and townhouses that go up to 550 or 549 currently. So, you do have a wide variety and honestly, this is a pretty good price for Draper at 385. Now, looking at single-family homes, again, not considering anything with criteria as far as size and square footage and things like that, you have a single-family, 1,500 square foot, two-bedroom for as low as 425.
This is on the west side of Draper right on the South Jordan border. But you have starting at 425 and you can see they just go up, and up, and up, and up, and up. Let’s just scroll down. So up to 4.2 million, and this is one in Suncrest that has amazing views. So, lots of options with home prices. Whether you’re looking for something affordable just to live in Draper, you can now see that you can find things in the 400,000s.
